Tyran Brown
Location: Los Angeles, CA/Las Vegas, NV
Genre: Hip Hop
Label/Unsigned: Brown Bag Ent., G.O.O.D. Music Affiliate

TMC: For those who are unfamiliar, tell the people who Tyran Brown is? TB: Tyran Brown is a young dude straight out of Cali with the heart of a lion and the head of a brick.  One of the smartest, most ratchet, most intelligent, most handsome people your going to ever meet.

TMC: What made you want to pursue music as a career?

TB:  I always had a passion for the art and felt I was better than a lot of my peers and a lot of people in the industry.  Then as I got older, studying the industry and relating it to what I learned in college I gained the confidence to be successful in this business.

TMC: Name some people who influence you when it comes to music?

TB: NAS first off...  I have spent more time studying his craft that any thing else to be honest with you..  The flow, the lyricism, story telling and the way he makes the songs he wants to make without being worried about anyone else..  DOPE..  Lately I've been really influenced by Andre 3000. I honestly think if he had more material he would be considered the best ever.  Then you have T.I., Scarface, Big Pun, and Eminem who have a definite influence on the way I put my flow and lyrics together.

TMC: What is your favorite thing about being an artist?
TB: Well in the stage that I'm in now, I like when people first hear me and they expect me to be weak or typical then they get surprised by how talented I am, but they don't want to seem like a groupie so they just say "Man. you're pretty good" hahaha   just kidding but I'm kind of serious.   But honestly my favorite thing about it is I get to be creative and share my thoughts and feelings and it's the only time I get to give everybody my honest perspective from top to bottom..  the good and the bad it's all T.  I also like to perform and be on the stage sweating like the cops pulled me over.

TMC: You are affiliated with G.O.O.D Music, how did this come about & how is it working with the artist?

TB: Most def shout out to the G.O.O.D. music fam for showing love.  Basically I met Malik Yusef in LA in 2012.  Malik made me rap for him and he was feeling me so long story short he took me under his wing and I went to some awards shows and whatnot with him, he introduced me to the staff and we worked on some music together.  It's pretty dope but at the same time I got a lot of work to do and continue to build my brand.  The main thing I've learned since I started progressing is the second you get comfortable or complacent your moment is gone so I still approach it like I'm by myself and whatever opportunity they give me I'm going to be there definitely but I still got a big mountain to climb by myself as an artist.

TMC: Biggest Challenge & Greatest Achievement since doing music?

TB: The biggest challenge for me is patience.  Especially when I'm used to moving by myself or getting things handled when I want them to, now that I have a team with me I have to move differently and wait on things to happen, but I always get better results, but I be going crazy sometimes waiting.  Greatest achievement has honestly just been the progress.  I'm sitting here eating dinners next to No I.D. while Pharell and Quincy Jones are getting honored.  I'm in New York sitting front row at a fashion show and all eyes on me like who is this guy, and it all stems from the fact that I believed in myself, worked hard, and prepared myself to be ready.  so the greatest achievement is the confidence I have gained in the last year.

TMC: What makes you stand out from all the other artists trying to come up?

TB: A few things.  For one, I look at this from a business aspect first.  So many people don't realize that this is an INDUSTRY and it's called the entertainment BUSINESS.  A lot of people get surprised when we are in meetings how engaged I am in the functionality of it all.  Artistically, my versatility stands out, so many people master one type of style, me I'm a young Lebron out there I can give you any type of song you need and it never looks forced, because it's always authentic.  I can't be boxed into a category because I give you all of my personalities even if I contradict myself at times I embrace it I'm a gemini.  Also, I'm tall hahahaha...  I run into a lot of these tough guy artists and they be like 5'3 108 pounds trying to turn up I laugh at a lot of these dudes honestly.

TMC: What's something people may not know about Tyran Brown?

TB: You may not know that your girl is thinking about me every time she's laying next to you hahahaha.  But nah, y'all may not know that I'm really here to make a lasting impression.  I'm not trying to just get in here make some money and pop some bottles. I really want to have an impact on my generation and lead people in a way that Tupac, Malcolm X, and even Jay Z have lead there generations.  Its just up to me to get there.

  1. Great article, I like TB's mindset and direction. More young men(black men especially), should think this way.
